Coronavirus – COVID-19 Bulletin

Assalaam Alaikum Dear Brothers and Sisters

As you are all aware that the ongoing Coronavirus – COVID-19 situation is evolving rapidly. So
far, we have fared well Alhamdulillah. However, in abundance of caution and for the safety of
everyone, the Masjid administration would like you to be aware that DHEC and CDC has
identified high-risk and special populations which include the following individuals:

  • Older adults
  • People who have serious chronic medical conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and lung
  • People with compromised immune systems; and
  • Pregnant women

These groups are susceptible to getting infected and thus infecting others. If you fall under any
of these categories, we strongly recommend that you do NOT ATTEND any congregations at the
Masjid, including Jumuah, until the situation settles down. In such a situation you may pray
Zuhr on your own.

If you decide to pray at the Masjid, please observe all necessary preventive measures, like:

  • Washing hands with soap
  • Social distancing (e.g. do not shake hands, hug or kiss)
  • Bring you own prayer rug

It is very important that you bring and pray on your own prayer rug. This would be crucial in
containing any spread of infection. Or at least place a paper napkin at the place where your nose
touches the carpet when you prostrate (make sujood).

If you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms - no matter how mild they may be, like fever, sore
throat, runny nose, cough and shortness of breath, then it is your obligation in the interest of
every one’s safety and health that you DO NOT COME TO THE MASJID and seek medical
attention immediately.

The current situation is very fluid, and things can change for good or for worse. From what we
have observed, it appears this condition may go on for some time. This information will be
updated insha Allah as the situation dictates. So, please check this website periodically.

We seek Allah’s (SWT) protection for one and all.
